HOWTO: Move The Application To Another Location

Due to Apteryx's SIMU (Single Installation Multiple Usage) technology, relocating Apteryx Imaging Software to a new server does not require a complete reinstall if the Apteryx install folder is still accessible on the old server. The imaging software is self-contained in the install directory and can simply be copied and moved over to the server.

Once moved to a new server, Apteryx software will require a re-registration. Go to www.apteryx.com/reset-request to submit a reset request form.

To move Apteryx Imaging software to a new server:

  1. Backup the entire Apteryx install folder on old server in order to retain: the custom configurations of all the workstations; the global hardware extensions (for sensors, pans, etc.); and the shared Patient database.

  2. Note: The Apteryx install folder contains custom settings for each image capture station that is based on their respective Computer Names. Avoid changing workstations' computer names so the custom settings can still apply.

  3. Copy the entire Apteryx install folder to the new server.

  4. Share the newly located Apteryx install folder with full read/write permissions for 'Everyone'.

  5. On each workstation, remove any existing desktop and/or start menu shortcuts that point to Apteryx Imaging software on the old server.

  6. On each workstation: use Windows Explorer to browse to the new server’s share and then to the Apteryx Imaging share; launch the Apteryx Imaging software; and then select Help > Create Local Shortcuts to create new icons on the desktop and start menu.

If utilizing Namegrabber to bridge your practice management software with Apteryx Imaging:

  1. Exit NameGrabber on all workstations.

  2. On each workstation, remove any local Namegrabber shortcuts in Start > Programs > Startup.

  3. On each workstation, run NameGrabber located in the Apteryx install folder on the new server. Select Yes to start NameGrabber automatically when the pop-up below displays.

  4. Right-click on the NameGrabber icon in the system tray, select Options, and verify that the application path is pointing to Apteryx Imaging on the new server.

If the Practice Management software utilized contains a built-in bridge to launch Apteryx Imaging software:

The built-in bridge will need to be updated to point to the new location. Contact the practice management software support for assistance.
