HOWTO: Setup the dentrix enterprise Data Drill to Interface with the Database

Download and install the latest Dentrix Enterprise data drill located on the Apteryx website at http://www.apteryx.com/software-updates.

An ODBC data source needs to be setup on each computer in order to interface with the Dentrix Enterprise database.

1. Click on the Windows Start button and select Control Panel.

2. Access the 'Administrative Tools' in Control Panel and double-click on Data Source (ODBC).



3. The 'ODBC Data Source Administrator' launches. Click on Add to begin creating a data source for Dentrix Enterprise.



4. Select the SQL Server driver and then click on Finish.



5. The 'Microsoft SQL Server DSN Configuration' dialog box displays. Enter "dentrix" (all lowercase) in the 'Name' field. Select the appropriate SQL Server from the 'Server' drop-down list and click on Next.



6. Click on the Next button to continue.



7. Enable the Change the default database to option, select Dentrix from the drop-down list, and then click on Next to continue.



8. Click on the Finish button to complete the configuration process.



9. Select the Test Data Source button to verify the new ODBC data source can interface with the Dentrix Enterprise database.



10. Once the test completes click on OK to close the dialog box.
