When XrayVision® XV is installed on your computer, it automatically creates a local patient database in the main application directory. All licensed versions of the program running from this installation location automatically can access this database for storage and retrieval of patient information and patient images.
Note: In the following discussion, the physical installation of XV and all client workstations (PAC licenses) running from that location will be referred to as an "XV Group".
Each separate XV Group that is setup on your network initially has their own local patient database. In order to have different XV Groups access the same database, you must link the different groups to a common database. Multiple XV Groups can all link to the same database whether on the same LAN, WAN or networked location.
In addition to having multiple XV Groups sites access the same patient database, at times it becomes necessary to move the current patient database to a larger disk drive or to a mass storage server. Using database mounting, the patient database can be located anywhere on a network and the XV Groups can be directed to the appropriate location of the database.
