VISTA: Upgrade Problems

SYMPTOMS

Upgrades for applications, device extensions, and other components fail to complete.

The IDDLL file 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Apteryx Imaging\DirectVideo.iddll' could not be loaded! The imaging device contained in this IDDLL will be unavailable. Operating system reported error #126

RESOLUTION

This problem occurs because the user does not have the administrative privileges necessary in Vista to perform file upgrades. To properly upgrade the software, the user should first save the upgrader to a folder (such as the Desktop). Then, right-click on the upgrader, and choose Run As Administrator.

ALTERNATIVE

After initially failing to upgrade the software, Vista will alert the user that the program needs to be restarted with administrative privileges. When this occurs, choose Restart the program as an Administrator.
