Atlanta, GA. - June 15, 2000 -- National Electronic Attachment, Inc. (NEA) announced today the completion of a seamless interface of their FastAttach software with Apteryx, Inc., of Akron, Ohio, enabling the web-based transmission of electronic image attachments to insurance companies and other third party payors. The newest release of Apteryx's XVa3® Assistant coupled with NEA's FastAttach software program will provide the dentist with the ability to acquire, view, and store electronic patient images as well as facilitate their transmission as electronic attachments to insurance payors for pre-determination of benefits, claims adjudication, and claims payment.
"XVa3 enables dental practices to capture, enhance and display dental images in the operatory or at the front desk, whether the images are captured from a flatbed scanner, digital sensor, intra-oral camera, or digital camera," said Bob Roberts, Vice President of Business Development for Apteryx. "We have always enabled the transmission of images electronically, but now that we have included NEA's FastAttach in XVa3, dental practices will have a far more simple and streamlined method to deliver images to insurance companies and other payors. And since XVa3 is integrated with virtually all practice management programs, dental offices now have a suite of programs that greatly reduces the handling costs of insurance claims."
NEA acts as a repository and communication facilitator for electronic attachments (i.e., x-rays) to major dental insurance companies, including CIGNA, MetLife, Fortis, HumanaDental, United Concordia, Mutual of Omaha, Delta Dental of Tennessee, Dental Benefit Providers, Harrington, TDC, and Superior Dental, and to the clearinghouses including Healtheon/WebMD Corporation and Electronic Insurance Services. NEA's FastAttach software allows these images to be transmitted electronically to NEA's repository where the insurance companies are able to view the images on NEA's web site.
The combination of Apteryx's and NEA's products will be very attractive to dental practices because they will save time and money in the processing of insurance claims, reduce paperwork and the other costs associated with filing dental claims, and, ensure prompt payment of the claims.
